Premier is a US-based healthcare alliance serving more than 2,000 hospitals and 53,000-plus other healthcare sites. Each year, Premier offers a High-Performance Development (PHD) Program for a select group of future company leaders. In 2008 Bridge worked with Premier to design and deliver the PHD Program; combining a powerful set of leadership challenges, self-discovery opportunities, real work projects and experiential learning activities. Key components of the program included:

• Leadership Labs:

  A series of collaborative sessions with top faculty focused on a number of critical topics:

  • Leading high performance teams including best practices, communication styles, and conflict assessments.
  • Innovation and creativity, taught through the study of parables, the examination of businesses that have successfully transformed their culture of innovation, and techniques for generating bold ideas.
  • Personal leadership exercises, including self reflection, aptitude to change, understanding what drives behavior and performance, the role of the leader

• Thought Leadership Sessions:

  Interactive sessions designed to broaden participant understanding of the healthcare industry. During the Breakthrough Conference as well as via video and web conferences, participants have been exposed to a number of healthcare leaders including Tom Daschle and Tony Snow, both powerful figures in the US Healthcare market.

• The Real Work Project (RWP):

  The Bridge US & UK teams worked together with Premier to deliver a 2-day intensive RWP focused on developing bold and innovative solutions to three distinct strategic challenges. The outcomes reached by the working teams were presented directly to Premier's top leaders for consideration, and the event was viewed as a great success in paving the way for future innovation within Premier.
